Android OTA: Device Updates & Firmware Weekly Report – February 27th Edition

DROID TURBO Gets Minor Update

Verizon’s pretty great DROID Turbo is getting a small update this week. There’s little to nothing to write home about this one, this is your standard bug fixing OTA that’s pretty boring, and no, this isn’t Lollipop. Everything you need to know is found above, but here’s a link to Verizon’s support page for good measure.

Verizon Updates Xperia Z2 Tablet With PS4 Remote Play

One of the first Sony devices to launch on Verizon in a long time, last year’s Xperia Z2 Tablet is getting a pretty nice update this week. This isn’t Lollipop (stop asking) and instead enables the excellent Sony exclusive that is PS4 Remote Play. Essentially allowing you to play your PS4 games on your tablet using your DualShock 4, we wrote about the feature here. As for the rest of the update, you’re looking at use interface tweaks and that sort of thing. There is however, the exciting inclusion of “reduced chattering” on the touchscreen. The full changelog and the version number can be found here.

AT&T’s Moto X 2014 Finally Gets Lollipop

While many other Moto X 2014 users have been happily using Lollipop for quite some time now, AT&T have been dragging their feet. We’ll say better later than never on this one though, as AT&T is at long last releasing their update to Android 5.0.2 for the Moto X 2014. The software version here is 22.21.34.en.US and you’ll need somewhere in the region of 400MB of free space to download and install this latest update. More information can be found from Motorola here.

SHIELD Tablet Hotfix Restores the Display’s Color Reproduction

Some users were reporting an issue with the latest SHIELD Tablet update that caused colors to look dull and well, just not right. Further showing that they know what they’re doing when it comes to software, NVIDIA has released a little hotfix to sort things out. All the info you need can be found here.

LG’s Optimus G Pro Gets Lollipop Update in South Korea

Remember the Optimus G Pro? Well, you should, but we’ll forgive you if you don’t. Either way, it was one of the first larger than life devices to be launched from LG and it’s now getting Android 5.0 Lollipop in South Korea. This is disappointing for those on AT&T that picked up the device, but this is a good sign as it means LG will at least be upgrading the fairly old device in the first place. Korean readers and those interested in machine translation can find out more directly from LG.
