Lenovo has been relatively quiet lately, at least as far as smartphone launches go. The Lenovo-owned Motorola did release a couple of devices for the Chinese market quite recently, but as I said, we didn’t hear much from Lenovo. This China-based company did launch the P70 mid-range handset in China yesterday though, and today they have announced its availability for Europe. I didn’t exactly expect this to be honest, didn’t know if this handset will arrive in Europe at all, but this is definitely good news. Keep in mind that the specifications of the European model are significantly different though, more on that later.
This device is already listed in several online stores, like the official Lenovo Shop in Ukraine, which you can access if you follow the source link down below. This handset costs $224 dollars in China, and it will be somewhat more expensive in Europe though, but that was to be expected (its specs are somewhat better in the European model). If you’re interested in purchasing this device, you’ll have to spend around $300, the prices will vary from store to store I’m sure. Considering how fast this thing arrived in Europe, the U.S. might be next, who knows, we’ll of course let you know if that happens.
The European variant of the Lenovo P70 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage which you can expand via microSD card if you want. MediaTek’s MT6752 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz is powering on this handset. 13-megapixel camera can be found on the back of this device, and is flanked by an LED flash. The 5-megapixel snapper is available up front for your selfie and video call needs. Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed here with Lenovo’s Vibe UI on top of it, of course. This handset is 8.9mm thick, weighs 149 grams and it packs a rather big 4,000mAh battery on the inside. According to Lenovo, this battery can provide 34 days of standby time and 46 hours of talk time, should provide great battery life in practice considering this is not the high-end device and it has to power a 720p display, not a 1080p or a quadHD panel.
