Meizu has been mentioned a lot in the last couple of months. This China-based company is definitely on the rise, they’ve released a number of great smartphones in the last couple of months and their sales are definitely going up. The company sold 1.5 million smartphones last month and by doing that beat their own record, they usually sell about 1 million units per month. This company has signed a contract with Canonical a while back and Alibaba has decided to invest $590 million in Meizu, which will certainly help the company grow even further.
That being said, it seems like Meizu intends to showcase a mysterious device at MWC 2015 in Barcelona next month, which will be focused on the international market. There are a couple of possibilities here, it is possible that Meizu will announce international availability for the already released Meizu M1 or M1 Note handsets, or that the company will release the Ubuntu-powered Meizu M1 and announce its international availability at the same time. Ever since Canonical and Meizu signed the partnership agreement, we’ve been waiting for this China-based manufacturer to release the Ubuntu-powered device, and according to many reports, the company will place the Ubuntu OS inside of Meizu M1. BQ has already announced their Ubuntu-powered smartphone and it is already available in parts of Europe, I do believe that it’s Meizu’s turn to do the same.
I’m only guessing as to what the company will announce though, everything will be revealed in less than a month, and it seems like this year’s MWC will be great. A lot of manufacturers have confirmed that they’ll participate at the Mobile World Congress and we’ll certainly see a lot of great devices showcased over there.
