Micromax Canvas Tab P666 With Aluminium Frame, Intel CPU Now Official

Micromax has launched another device in the Indian market, the Canvas Tab P666. It is one of the first Micromax tabs to feature a premium build, or so it appears from the specifications of the device so far. What’s more, instead of the usual MediaTek series processor, the tablet will come with an impressive Intel Atom processor, something that is getting quite popular among budget device manufacturers.

“Are you a bookworm, a social addict, a gamer, or a movie buff? Discover your hidden passions and interests with the all-new Canvas Tab P666 powered by the Intel Atom Processor which gives you a lightning fast performance,” is what Micromax advertises the product by. Clearly, the company is targeting a higher-end market than it usually does with this 7.9-inch tablet. What’s more, the number ‘666’ is fortunately not a big deal where the company operates at; if the tablet does reach the international market, namely in the Western regions, it’ll probably have to rethink for a name.

On the specifications side of things, the tablet comes with an 8-inch display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels to make for a decently usable display, at least on paper. As mentioned before, it is powered by the Intel Atom processor with a clock rate of 1.2GHz. The processor (of unspecified model number) also offers Hyper-Threading, which should bring performance up by a notch. The seemingly powerful processor is coupled by 1GB of RAM, which although doesn’t sound much, should be good enough for first time tablet users. Other than that, there’s a 5-megapixel camera on the rear of the tabled coupled with a 2-megapixel sensor on the front to not leave you stranded when you require the services of a camera.

The tablet also has a 4,400mAh battery, which doesn’t sound like much, but Micromax is betting big on it. According to the company, the battery should hold good for 6 hours of web browsing or 7 hours of video, which isn’t at all bad. Lastly, besides WiFi and Bluetooth, the P666 also comes with on-board 3G which allows for download speecs of up to 21Mbps. The tablet will be available in Magnetic Black and Puritan White for 11,000 INR or $180.
