Android updates are all the rage at the moment. While most owners are waiting on their respective manufacturers to push out their Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update, those already running Lolipop are waiting for their subsequent incremental updates to arrive. It was only this morning, a report came in suggesting that the next major(ish) Lollipop milestone, Android 5.1, might be landing next month in March. At least, that was the assumption based on a tweet sent out by HTC’s Mo Versi.
Well, moving away from Android mobile devices, Android Wear devices are also currently undergoing their Android Lollipop journey. And if you are running Motorola’s Moto 360 smartwatch, it seems that your device is imminently about to receive an update too. This update will take your smartwatch up to Android 5.0.2 and is going under the build ‘LWX49L’. As the number increase suggests, this is only an incremental update and as such there is nothing major to report on. According to the Motorola update information (source link below), the update consists of an update to Google Play Services and “A variety of system optimizations and security updates to improve performance and stability“. The latter mainly being the commonly encountered standard bug fixes and performance improvements.
If you have yet to receive the update then don’t worry, it is en route and will land soon enough. According to the Motorola announcement, the rollout is occurring in phases and as such will hit devices over the coming hours and days. Once the update does arrive, it will either automatically install (it is a required update) or you will see a notification appear. If the latter is the case, then click on “Download”, once the download has finished, hit “Install Now” and your device will automatically go through the installation process before rebooting with Android 5.0.2. It is worth noting, Motorola recommend that your device has a smartphone battery level in excess of 80%. This is just to ensure no problems arise during the installation process. Have you already seen the update land on your Moto 360? Any noticeable improvements? How do you like the Moto 360? Let us know.
