Nokia Pushes Out Global Update To HERE Maps With New Features And Improvements

Nokia’s HERE maps application for maps locations, directions and navigation is one of the best available on Android, specifically because it gives you the option to download and save maps of entire states, and even countries so you can continue to access and use the maps while offline should you need any directions when there’s no internet connection. Nokia HERE maps hasn’t been available on Android for too long as it was just released out of beta late last year, but since they have launched it onto the platform they have been improving it any way they could with updates to the app.

Today Nokia has announced an update to HERE maps that has rolled out globally to Android users(also available to windows users)that sees a slew of new features and improvements to the application. In this latest update Nokia has added in multiple new navigable countries which can be accessed including Cyprus, Mayotte, and Zimbabwe which have all had their maps upgraded to navigable status. Nokia also mentions that a number of other countries should be seeing vast improvements to their  maps including Comoros, Djibouti, Fiji, Gambia, Liberia, Madagascar, Sierra Leone and Somalia. Also included in this latest update, are improvements to the bodies water displayed on maps, as Nokia has taken into account displaying several smaller bodies of water on maps like small lakes, ponds, streams etc.

Last but not least, Nokia has expanded their commitment to showing an accurate display of transit lines within a city to match the layout of their geography, displaying their paths as close to the surrounding geography as possible. This update includes the transit lines for Kaohsiung, Taipei, Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro, S£o Paulo and Singapore. Nokia notes that the updates should be showing up for people automatically as a status bar notification, but if it hasn’t shown up for you as of just yet they suggest to just “sit tight and try again in a couple of days,” although it wouldn’t hurt if you decided to check again in couple of hours instead. If you have received an updates notification from Nokia, simply tap the notification and follow the on-screen promtps to get the latest version of the HERE maps app
