Today, Sling TV has announced that their service – first announced at CES – is now open for everyone to try. No more waiting on an invite. You can sign up for your free 7-day trial right now. I’ve been using Sling TV for about 2-3 weeks now, and absolutely love it. They’ve been adding more and more channels which makes this product an even better seller, in my opinion.
In addition to making Sling TV available to everyone, they have also announced their Sports Extra Package. This package will be $5/month and includes these channels: SEC Network, ESPNEWS, ESPNU, Universal Sports, Univision Deportes, beIN Sports, and college sports live cut-in and highlights networks ESPN Buzzer Beater, ESPN Bases Loaded and ESPN Goal Line. Quite a bit of channels there for just $5 more per month.
Additionally, if you are subscribed to Sling TV, you can use the WatchESPN app. Generally you’ll need to login through your provider, which now you can. Just use the Sling TV as the provider and login and you’re all set. It’s a great perk to having Sling TV. As of today, Sling TV is available on “current-generation Roku players, Roku TV models, iOS, Android, Mac and PC, with support for Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick in the coming days”. So now you can watch TV from your laptop, which is pretty slick as well.
“There has been a remarkable expression of consumer interest since we first announced Sling TV one month ago,” said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. “We believe Sling TV is a game-changing service that enhances the existing television landscape. Now underserved audiences have access to the best of live TV at an affordable price.”
I’m very excited to see what Sling TV does in the near future as far as adding more channels to it’s core offering and other add on packs. Which I think will be essential on their success. But so far, I really like it. I mostly use it for sports, but still, I love it.
