T-Mobile Offering Almost Free Alcatel ONETOUCH Pop 7 Tablet for Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day has traditionally been a day to give gifts and keepsakes to those you love, particularly when a romantic interest is involved.  Given the likelihood of your love of technology if you’re reading this site in the first place, T-Mobile might just have the killer Valentine’s Day present for you and maybe someone else close to you.  Starting Thursday, February 12th until Monday February 16th you can walk into any participating T-Mobile store and pick up a free Alcatel ONETOUCH Pop 7 tablet.  Currently T-Mobile doesn’t have a list of participating stores, so you’ll need to use the T-Mobile store locator to find one near you and give them a call to see if they are one of the participants.

With that said let’s get to the meat of the deal.  First off you’ll be walking into and out of a T-Mobile store without paying anything for the tablet itself, only sales tax.  Given that the tablet if $168 full retail that probably puts sales tax in the ballpark of $13 depending on your state and city taxes of course, but $13 for essentially any tablet is basically getting it for free anyway.  The biggest catch is that you’ll need to subscribe to a qualifying data plan, and T-Mobile didn’t specify which plans these were in the press release.  200MB is included for life with any tablet purchase, but it looks like that’s probably not the case here since you’re not actually purchasing the tablet, although we’ll get clarification on that.

The Alcatel ONETOUCH Pop 7 tablet is a budget-friendly 7-inch tablet powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, so while the version of Android is definitely dated it’s still a free tablet.  There’s no LTE speeds here, just HSPA and below, but T-Mobile’s HSPA network is the best of the best in the nation as they were essentially the only ones who cared about building out HSPA when that was the big thing.  You’ll find 1GB of RAM on board and a dual-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT8312 processor, which is likely the reason it’s still at Android 4.2 in the first place.  While this isn’t the greatest tablet on the market by any means it’s plenty good for watching movies and doing tablet-y things, and you certainly can’t beat it for the price.  Check out the T-Mobile store link below for all the info there is on this tablet, and give those T-Mobile stores a call in two days to see if they have them available.
