Samsung’s Gear VR Now Available in Australia
That’s our very own Nick Sutrich there having way too much fun with Samsung’s Gear VR, and now Australians will be able to have that same sort of fun! The headset that’s been developed in conjunction with Oculus is now available to order directly from Samsung’s website for $249AU and if you’re quick, it looks like Samsung is offering 10% (yest, just 10%) when you purchase both a Gear VR as well as a Galaxy Note 4 at the same time and use NGEAR10 at the checkout. You do need the Galaxy Note 4 handset to make proper use of this little gizmo, so maybe that 10% is better than we first thought.
Vodafone to Invest $1.25 Billion in Egyptian Network
Vodafone are expanding their network in Egypt and will be spending a huge amount to do so, roughly 3 Billion Egyptian Pounds is to be spent by the company over the next three years. Ahmed Essam, CEO of Vodafone Egypt has been talking to Reuters and has said that the company will be investing heavily into the network over the next few years and that over time, investments will make up for 30% of the company’s revenue. It seems that Vodafone is one of the large companies leading the country’s economic recovery, and when asked about that Essam said that “I believe we are as a country on the front foot at the moment for encouraging investments coming in and encouraging trade.”
LG Spray 402LG Announced for Japanese Market
LG has become something of a success in Japan and their new Spray 402LG could be something for women to enjoy. It’s quite obviously aimed towards female buyers, which is nice, as there’s not a huge amount of that in the tech world, let’s be honest. It’s available in the three colors shown above and will go sale starting February 19th. It’ll cost roughly $260US and features a quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU, a 4.5-inch 720p display, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. There’s also an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, too. Put together with a lot of LG DNA in mind, the Spray 402LG features software taken from the likes of the G3 and should be a great everyday device for a lot of users.
Nexus Wireless Charger Leaves the Australian Google Play Store
The wireless charger designed just for Nexus devices has been removed from the Play Store in Australia. Probably because the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 it was designed for are no longer current devices, but also because Google might have issues with their supplier. Who knows whether or not there’s going to be a replacement added some time soon, but thanks to the Qi wireless standard, you can pretty much use whichever charger takes your fancy.
Yotaphone to Head to China
Yotaphone is to offer the YOTAPHONE2 for sale in China soon, as they’ve been selling the device with some success in Europe and the Middle East. The company will partner with China’s state-owned Potevio to sell the device in the region. Vladislav Martynov, CEO of Yota Company had this to say “After the successful start of YOTAPHONE2 sales in 20 countries across Europe and the Middle East, we are beginning sales in China. The contract with Potevio is the start of YOTAPHONE2 sales throughout China in the first quarter of 2015. For the Chinese market, we created a special version of YOTAPHONE2 supporting local LTE frequencies. This version also includes a package of the most popular mobile applications in China and social networks localised and adapted for the second screen.” It’s been an exciting couple of years for Yotaphone as their dual-screen eInk hybrid device gets off the ground.
Samsung’s Milk Music Goes Live in Australia
Milk Music, Samsung’s oddly named streaming service powered by Slacker is coming to Australia. It’s available to download from either Samsung’s own app store or the Google Play Store and yes, it’s only available on select Samsung devices (the list is very long though to be fair). It’s basically akin to Spotify or Google Play Music, and there’s a free model as well as a $3.99 a month premium option, too. It’s nice to have options like this, but if you’re not a Samsung user, then you need to look elsewhere.

Meizu’s MX4 Pro is an excellent device from the well respected Chinese manufacturer, and they’re rolling out to Malaysia soon – starting today!
