Technology is advancing at an incredible pace. We’ve been witnessing huge advances in many tech aspects in the next couple of years, and it seems like tech is advancing faster and faster year after year. Processors are becoming faster and faster, virtual reality is becoming a thing, and we’re communicating via our watches today, which was unimaginable a couple of years back. Internet speeds are definitely included on that list, and it seems like 5G internet connectivity will become available in 2020. We’ve talked about DoCoMo and Nokia Networks yesterday, but they’re not the only one pushing this forward, Huawei is also doing their best to push 5G to the market by 2020, as well as several other companies.
Most people who use an internet connection still connect via 3G connection speeds, despite the fact 4G is kind of a standard here, but not everywhere, of course. 5G technology will definitely push innovation forward, we’ll see more and more smart devices which are taking advance of internet connectivity, and thanks to such speeds, they’re expected to function without a problem. 5G network connections will be approximately 66 times faster than today’s standard 4G networks, which is just insane when you think about it. Self-driving cars are also incoming, and they will certainly require a stable and fast internet connection, just to give you an example. Interesting fact, the perfect 4G connection takes 15 to 25 milliseconds to notify one car to tell another that it’s time to hit the brake, while 5G connectivity will require only 1 millisecond to do that same operation.
5G internet connection will open a lot of possibilities, you’ll have basically instant access to online content and will be able to use cloud storage without a hitch, same goes for downloading and streaming media, gaming, etc. 5G connectivity is coming, though who knows how long will it take until it becomes a standard. Some analysts think that 5G connectivity won’t be available to consumers by 2020, like Craig Wigginton, leader of the telecom practice at consulting firm Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Wigginton thinks that 5G will be knocking on our door in 2022, rather than 2020, while Tod Sizer, head of wireless research at Alcatel-Lucent’s Bell Laboratories is even less optimistic, his prediction says 2025 is they year to expect 5G.
No matter when it arrives, 5G connectivity is coming, and it will change the world as we know it at least to some extent. Technology advances will only become more noticeable in the future, and it seems like 5G connectivity will be a huge part of that, no matter which way we spin things.
