Android App Updates – March 6th, 2015: Motorola, Firefox, and More!

Motorola Updates its camera App

Motorola has had their camera app in the Play Store for quite some time now. It makes it easier to update the camera without needing to push out an OTA that needs to be approved by the carriers. This week’s update included a new icon. And that was it, basically. You can check out the before and after of the Motorola Camera icons in the picture above.

Firefox Launches v36 on the Stable Channel

The newest version of Firefox Stable brings in a nice Tablet UI, which is what more and more apps need to have. It also didn’t fix the Chromecast bug. Hopefully Mozilla will get that fixed soon though.

Hangouts for Android Got Updated

Google updated the Hangouts app this week for Android. It was mostly a bug fixer, and there are a ton of bugs that need to be fixed here. So no new features this time around, unfortunately.

“Since our last release, our main focus has been to improve stability and performance and we’ve addressed lots of the feedback and suggestions that we get from you!”

Slingshot Introduces Explore

Slingshot introduced Explore this week, which basically allows you to see popular posts from around the world and your area:

“Explore is a place to discover funny, inspiring and creative people from across the globe. It features popular people who are active on Slingshot. You can view their shots and then decide who you want to follow. If you don’t want to be featured in Explore, you can turn on Approve Followers in Settings.”

Google Opinion Rewards Updated

Google, this week, also updated their Opinion Rewards app. Which allows you to answer short surveys and get some Google Play credit. Usually around $0.10 or so per survey though. You can check out the full changelog below.

  • Support for landscape orientation on tablets.
  • Improved reliability in submitting answers.
  • Visual refresh of setup
