Asus has unveiled their new ZenFone 2 lineup of devices back at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in January. The Asus’ new lineup actually offers a number of different ZenFone 2 device variants. This Taiwan-based company has released all four variants in Taiwan quite recently, and they have just teased the launch of these devices in China. The company has released a new teaser image on their official Weibo (Chinese social network) page which reveals that the ZenFone 2 devices will launch in China on March 24th.
The company did not confirm that they’ll release all four variants in China on said date, but they quite probably will. Anyhow, the ZenFone 2 ZE551ML model is the most powerful out of the bunch. This device features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This handset is powered by Intel’s quad-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz and comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera. The second ZenFone variant is quite similar to the top model, the only difference is in the processor and RAM, the lower-end model is powered by 1.8GHz quad-core chip from Intel and ships with 2GB of RAM. These two models currently cost around $285 and $220, respectively, and the pricing should be somewhat similar in China.
There are two more variants left here, the ZE550ML and ZE500CL. The former model sports a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, 2GB of RAM and is powered by the aforementioned 1.8GHz quad-core SoC by Intel. This handset also ships with 16GB of internal storage. The ZE500CL variant features a somewhat smaller 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display and ships with 2GB of RAM and a 1.6GHz quad-core chip by Intel. These two handsets are priced at $190 and $160, respectively, and their pricing is expected to be somewhat similar in China once Asus unveils them.
The 4G variant of Asus’ ZenFone 2 handset was one of the main surprises at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) back in January. This device costs less than $300 in Asia, which is quite interesting. It remains to be seen if Asus intends expand the availability of the company’s new ZenFone line, stay tuned.
