It’s the morning before Mobile World Congress and HTC has already had their live event, where they announced the HTC One M9 and their much anticipated first wearable device called the HTC Grip, which is a smart fitness tracker born of a partnership between HTC and Under Armour. As one would expect, many of the carriers are going to begin announcing that they’re carrying these new devices and T-Mobile has already announced they’ll be carrying the all new HTC One M9. AT&T, not one to be left behind is making their official announcement that they’re carrying the HTC One M9 as well, and will also be carrying HTC’s new fitness tracker the HTC grip.
Both devices will be available at AT&T retail store locations as well as on AT&T’s website for purchase, although at this point in time neither HTC nor AT&T have mentioned any dates as to when both devices will specifically be available, as they’ve stated pricing and availability will be announced at a later date. When they do launch however, customers at AT&T will get the chance to snag up the HTC one M9 which features a Full HD 5-inch display with 1080p resolution, a 20MP rear facing camera and an Ultrapixel front facing camera. It’ll also be running Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and will be powered by Qualcomm’s next generation Snapdragon 810 chipset.
As for the HTC Grip, this is HTC’s first wearable. Many thought they were going to be announcing a smartwatch sometime last year along with the other OEM’s but HTC quickly deflated those speculations. Months later they decided to take a different route into wearables with their first product with a fitness tracker instead. Through their partnership with Under Armour, the HTC Grip is powered by UA Record, and is being positioned as “the ultimate tool for athletes to analyze their fitness and workout data.” It includes multiple different sports modes so you can capture the right kind of data for the occasion. It has a built in GPS antenna so users can track their routes and movement during exercise, and it’s compatible with Android devices running Android 4.3 and up, or iOS devices running iOS 7 and up, so HTC isn’t just catering to Android users here.
