A short while ago Samsung officially unveiled their latest Galaxy smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S6. Alongside the standard version, Samsung also unveiled the much rumored Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge device and advised that both would begin rolling out in select countries starting April 10th. If you are in the U.S. then you might want to know that AT&T have now confirmed that they will be one of the carriers bringing both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Stateside. Both devices will be available from AT&T in-store and online. Unfortunately, the press release did not comment or provide any detailed information on when AT&T will begin selling either device. Likewise, there was also no mention of price for the time being. Instead, this information was stated to follow in due course.
In terms of the two S6 devices, both devices will come with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a Quad HD (2560 x 1440p) display (577 ppi). Inside, both versions of the S6 will come with 3GB RAM and powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7420 Octa-core processor. In terms of memory, both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants. Unlike previous Galaxy devices, there is no option for expandable microSD card slots on either S6 variant. Camera-wise, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will come equipped with a 16-megapixel rear shooter with Optical Image stabilization (OIS) and LED flash, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing option. The S6 and S6 Edge will come running on Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop) and once again, with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI on top. In terms of battery capacity, this is one of the areas where there is a subtle difference between the two variants. The standard S6 will come with a 2,550mAh battery while the Edge version will come with a slightly increased 2,600mAh battery.
Although, there is no direct information on when AT&T will begin selling the Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge, the carrier does have a ‘coming soon‘ page where you can sign up to make sure, you are one of the first to receive any updates on availability and pricing.
