Although, in recent weeks, this year’s MWC has attracted all the attention and headlines it is worth remembering this was the second big tech event of this year. Back in the first few days of January, the annual CES event took place in Las Vegas. As per usual, there was a whole host of announcements taking place and from all the usual suspects. If you need a quick reminder of what was announced then click here to read our wrap up of the event. One of the announcements which came through during the event was the launching of four new android tablets from a company called E-Fun.
Although, E-Fun might not be the first name you think of when you think of android tablets, the big selling point for these were their prices. Of the four, one in particular was the Nextbook Ares 11. This tablet was an 11.6 inch offering and was a two-in-one type device. Which essentially means the device comes with a detachable keyboard. In terms of the rest of the specs, the 11.6 inch display was an IPS display equipped with a 1366 x 768 resolution. In addition, the Ares 11 was equipped inside with 1GB RAM and powered by a Quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F Processor (which clocks at 1.8GHz). In terms of memory, the Ares 11 offers 64GB as standard and also offers a MicroSD card slot. Additional connections on offer included a mini-HDMI and a MicroUSB. Not to mention, this comes with the magnetic keyboard which offers another standard USB connector to boot. In terms of cameras, the Ares 11 comes equipped with a 2 megapixel rear shooter as well as a 2 megapixel front facing option. It is probably also worth pointing out that the Ares 11 comes running out of the box on Android 5.0 (Lollipop).
Well, if this tablet had attracted your attention during the first announcement then you might like to know that it is now currently available to buy. Walmart currently has the device in stock and it is listed at $197. Which is lower than the initial $249.99 price which was announced back at CES.
