Sharing memories and special moments with others is great, and with the age of social media and always connected smart devices, sharing those moments and memories with others has become the easiest it’s ever been. Many people share their memories through popular sites and apps like Facebook, but what about when you want to look back at those memories yourself? It’s just as easy to enter your album and sift through all the photos you’ve uploaded, but Facebook wants to make things a little more special. That’s why they’ve introduced the new feature called ‘On This Day’ which notifies users in their feeds with photos and old memories from the past.
On This Day doesn’t just let users look back on photos they’ve shared though, it also lets users look back at posts they’ve shared, posts they’ve been tagged in, etc. so you can see just about any memory on Facebook that you were included in. Facebook also made the On This Day page private, meaning only you can see your page and the alerts for On This Day memories will only show up in your feed to you. You can however, change this and choose to share this content with friends and family, so Facebook is leaving this option up to the user’s discretion.
Facebook seems to be rolling this feature out to people in short waves, so it may or may not be immediately available to you. You can however, check to see if you’re able to set things up by going to the web page for On This Day, and if you’re not able to use it just yet Facebook will let you know. When Facebook plans to make this feature available to everyone is unclear at the moment, but when things begin opening up for users, setting up to see On This Day memories in your feed can be done from the main page, Facebook also states there will be a bookmark for it, presumably accessible from the apps as well. On This Day is beginning to roll out to the web and mobile on a global scale but Facebook didn’t mention how long it would take before it’s usable by everyone.
