Featured Review: CHOETECH 4-Port USB Quickcharge 2.0 Car Charger

Hopping in the car after a long day of work or school only to find that your phone is nearly dead?  That 10 percent left on your battery might get you home if you’re lucky, but playing music on your drive will almost certainly be too much for it to handle.  Thankfully you’ve got a car charger that came in that bundle with your new phone, but by the time you get to where you’re going you realize it’s only charged your phone a few percentage points, which might get you through another hour or so but that’s it.  What if you had a car charger that could charge your phone’s battery to nearly 50% in about a half hour though?

That’s the design behind Qualcomm’s Quickcharge 2.0, and that same technology is packed into CHOETECH’s latest 51W car charger.  Inside the box you’ll find the charger itself of course as well as a single USB to microUSB cable to charge your phone or tablet.  There’s one Quickcharge 2.0 port that’s designed for phones which support the technology.  If you’re not sure whether or not your phone is in that list be sure to check Qualcomm’s website here.  The other three ports are set to automatically detect how much power your phone needs to charge and will adjust the voltage and other factors as necessary to protect your phone from being overvolted or under-charged.

It’s easy to identify which port is the Quickcharge 2.0 port by the blue light that surrounds the port when plugged in.  I found that on the Nexus 6 the battery went from nearly completely drained to over 50% in half an hour using this port.  Even on my OnePlus One, which doesn’t officially support Quickcharge 2.0, I went from 31% to 70% in 25 minutes.  With other devices plugged in this wasn’t quite as drastic, filling about 30% battery in the same amount of time, but it was refreshing to be able to keep more than one device plugged in without having to worry about them still losing power.  Overall this is a phenomenal car charger and one that’s able to charge all the devices you need without having a huge power inverter brick sitting in your car.  It feels sturdily built and should have no issues withstanding the extreme temperatures that cars tend to have too.
