Fitbit is easily one of the most popular fitness trackers out there, and Fitbit’s devices provide loads of useful functions and data to users who want to stay active and be able to analyze their results. Now Fitbit wants to make being fit even easier for their users as they have just purchased an application called Fitstar so people can find more ways to “find their fit.” FitStar is a personal trainer application which is currently only available for iOS devices, but the company states that they have plans to bring FitStar to Android at some point later this year. To that end, there hasn’t been any mention as of yet when that date could be.
Not only is Fitbit planning to expand the reach of FitStar to Android users, but they’re planning on making it possible for users to see the trends of their heart rate during a logged workout with FitStar. This will be compatible with Fitbit’s line of fitness trackers that use the PurePulse like the Fitbit Charge HR and the Fitbit Surge. What FitStar provides to users is a series of personal training videos, basically making it possible to cut out the step of going to the gym and actually signing up with a personal trainer. With the FitStar app users can easily watch training videos at home to know they are executing the exercises correctly while also gaining workout advice from professionals.
In addition to the fitness tracker compatibility, Fitbit is also allowing users to publish their FitStar workouts to Fitbit so they can see how FitStar is affecting their health overall. Fitbit says these new features and functions are coming soon, so if you use an iOS device and have a Fitbit tracker, you’ll be able to try out FitStar with those new capabilities soon enough. As for Android users, it could be a little while before the FitStar app makes it to the Play Store, but if you’re interested keep an eye out for it to launch as it could be sooner than we think. Do you use a Fitbit tracker currently? Would integration with FitStar cause you to use it more?
