If you’re a developer and were hoping to attend Google I/O this May in San Francisco, well registration just opened up. Google will be keeping the registration open through Thursday, March 19th at 5pm PDT. So you’ve got time. The way registration works now for Google I/O, is that you basically register your interest, and in a few weeks, Google will pick a number of developers to go, and that’s when they pay for their ticket. In the past, tickets have sold out in a mere seconds. One year, it was in under 5 seconds. So this way everyone has an equal chance at being able to go, even though it doesn’t always feel that way. Especially to those that do not get chosen to attend Google I/O.
To register for Google I/O 2015, hit this link then tap on “Start Application”. The application asks you normal questions like whether your going to need an academic ticket or a normal one, as well as your name, gender, email address, etc. It doesn’t take too long to fill out the application. Just make sure you do so before March 19th at 5pm PDT. For those of you outside the US, remember that we’ve already started our daylight savings time. So be sure you check what time it is in PDT before Thursday, in case you decide to wait until the last minute.
As usual, Google I/O is taking place at Moscone West in San Francisco. This is where Google I/O has been held for years and years now. Google has shortened their conference to just two days now (a few years ago it was a 3-day conference, similar to Apple’s WWDC and Microsoft’s BUILD conference). It’s taking place on May 28th and 29th this year. The keynote will be starting at 9am PDT on May 28th, and we will be in attendance to see what Google has to show us this year. After the keynote, there are all kinds of fireside chats and such where developers can learn more about new API’s, technologies and such that Google have built into their products and services.
