Mobile World Congress isn’t just full of the latest and greatest smartphones and emerging technologies, there’s always a few interesting products announced here and there that make us think that little bit harder. Huawei offered us the CarFi, an interesting wireless hotspot for the car, while Lenovo is showing off their Pocket Projector, a product that really lives up to its name. The Pocket Projector is a Pico Projector that you can easily take anywhere you want and tune in to your favorite movie, create a makeshift TV setup or show off the latest business figures.
We were impressed by Lenovo’s efforts when they announced the device yesterday, but we’re even more impressed after seeing it in person. We weren’t able to test out Lenovo’s claims of producing images up to 110-inches in size, but we were impressed with how the thing is put together and how it looks in person. The Pocket Projector is essentially a Miracast dongle, and it can also be used over DLNA as well. When being used wirelessly, Lenovo has said that this is good for a whole movie on a single charge, and that if you use the microSD card slot built-in, you’ll get much more than that. There’s support for the majority of file formats here, but as this is wireless, anything your phone can play; this can play, too.
An interesting little product that has a lot of uses, I could see this being great for those that travel a lot with kids and need to entertain them in Hotel rooms and of course for business users that want to show off a presentation no matter where they are. It’ll be available worldwide this March starting at $199 which isn’t too bad for a device like this, going on how useful it could be for a lot of different users.
