Hands-On At MWC '15 With LG's Watch Urbane

LG announced the Watch Urbane last week to much fanfare, and while on the face things, this looks like a cleaned up G Watch R, in person it feels very much like its own watch. We’ve just spent some time with LG before MWC ’15 kicks off in earnest tomorrow, and we’ve already had the pleasure of spending time with some phones as well as the Watch Urbane LTE. The product many of you are most interested in however is probably the Watch Urbane running Android Wear, and we’ve just been spending some quality time with it.

As was the case with the G Watch R, the Watch Urbane looks better in person than it does in press renders. We spent most of our time with the gold-looking version of the Urbane, and this is a really classy watch. More timepiece than it is smartwatch, this is definitely going to appeal to those looking for more of a watch than yet another gadget. As this is an Android Wear device, you’re not going to get any other features that aren’t present in say the Moto 360. The heart-rate monitors and such are all present and accounted for and for the most part, this is a cleaner watch offering from LG. It does look they’ve put together some exclusive watch faces for the Urbane though, which is a nice touch.

As for when you can get your hands on the Watch Urbane yourself, we’ve been told by LG that it’ll be a couple months yet before either the Watch Urbane or the Watch Urbane LTE roll out in a general release worldwide. That might be too long a wait for many, and it’ll indeed give Apple the head start that they’ll be looking for with the Apple Watch. Never mind all that right now though, take a closer look at the watch in the gallery below, and let us know how you like it!
