Meizu’s is growing as a company, no doubt about that. The company is selling more and more devices, and they’ve received significant investment ($590 million) from Alibaba recently. This China-based company is still not one of the main players in China, but is climbing up the ladder. They’ve released a couple of great smartphones last year, and have continued doing so this year as well. The company has released the Meizu MX4, MX4 Pro, M1 Note and M1 over the last couple of months. The MX4 and MX4 Pro were presented as Meizu’s flagships, while the M1 Note and M1 belong in the mid-range category of devices. All of these devices are more than affordable considering what they represent and their specifications on the inside.
Many people are wondering what will Meizu do next. We’ve seen quite a few rumors in the past, one of which was the alleged image of the company’s smartwatch. Well, Meizu’s founder, Huang Zhang (also known as Jack Wong), has quite recently released an interesting photo via his Weibo account (1st image down below). This image showcased an oval home button, which doesn’t exactly resemble the MX4 Pro’s solution. It actually resembles the old Meizu M8, a handset which was released back in 2007. This image stirred up the rumor mill in China, and we’ve heard all sorts of theories thus far. Following its boss, Flyme’s Chief Engineer, Yang Yan, also released an image, he placed the old M8 on top of a mysterious device with the oval home button (second image down below).
The device shown down below is quite probably a prototype of some sort. This might be the MX4 Pro prototype that the company was working on before they released the device, or is a prototype of one of the company’s upcoming devices. The latter is more probable though, either way, this is probably Meizu’s way of teasing an upcoming device and / or the return of the oval home button that made an appearance in the old Meizu M8 back in 2007. This seems rather interesting, no matter which way you spin it. We’ll have to wait to see what Meizu does next though, but the oval home button is almost certainly coming back.
