Just before MWC kicked off, Motorola announced the new Moto E. Which is their cheapest smartphone in their portfolio. It’s a nice smartphone (which we are working on the full review as I speak) and it brings you 4G LTE connectivity for just $150 unlocked. However, Cricket is getting in on the action and will be releasing the Moto E 4G LTE for just $129.99. This is still off-contract since Cricket is a pre-paid carrier, owned by AT&T. The Moto E features a 4.5-inch qHD (960×540) resolution display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and a 2390mAh battery inside. It’s actually a really decent phone for the price.
Cricket will have the Moto E 4G LTE starting on March 13th, in stores and online. You can grab it for just $129.99, and pair it with one of their very awesome plans. Their plans start at $40/month which gives you 2.5GB of high-speed data, their $50 plan gives you 5GB of high-speed data and when it comes to $60/month there are two plans. One gives you 10GB of high-speed data, but there’s also a limited time plan that will give you 20GB of high-speed data for just $60 per month. Once you hit your cap, your speeds are then reduced to 128kbps. If you’re looking to save even more money, you can enroll in Auto-Pay, which Cricket will discount your bill by $5. Making these plans $35, $45, and $55 respectively.
“We said Cricket would continue to roll out more affordable 4G LTE smartphones in 2015, and the new Moto E is one of the best in its price point,” said Andy Smoak, head of devices for Cricket Wireless.
Always great to see carriers adding more and more great devices that support 4G LTE. And the Moto E 4G LTE is one of those. So if you’re looking for a decent smartphone that won’t break the bank, the Moto E and Cricket is definitely a match made in heaven. Seeing as Cricket runs on AT&T’s network, you’ll have some pretty amazing coverage.
