Motorola loves teasing new things to its customers and fans through social media as much as the next company, and they left us with a special treat this weekend. Surprise, it’s a tweet. The tweet asks users to share their go-to red leather thing in life, followed by the phrase “we’ve got a little something in the works…any guesses?” Well, any guesses?
Honestly, your guess is as good as ours on what is actually coming, but one thing could be coming for sure: an addition to an already-existing product. Motorola wouldn’t, or at least wouldn’t under normal circumstances, release a new product this weekend or next week, or whenever it will eventually be unveiled. What it could end up being is an addition to the existing product lineup, with a new customization option, or, if it comes to most of the Moto Makers’ devices, it could even be for the due-out-this-year Moto X 3rd Generation. Nothing solid has nor related to the new iteration of the Moto X for this year has been outed at this point, but consumers can usually expect an annual refresh cycle for flagships or a family of devices.
Something to consider though: Motorola is as much a case maker for their devices as they are a customizer and seller, so it could be a new leather case, wallet-style or otherwise, or just another option to add to the Moto X’s Moto Maker options. It could also be a new band to help fashion out their already-fashionable smartwatch, the Moto 360. And, best yet, it could even possibly be both, with red leather joining both the Motos X and Moto 360. As of yet, there is no dates to speak of though Motorola might not mention one until it’s right around the corner. While the Moto 360 may be included in whatever Motorola has planned for their “in-the-works” red leather project, keep in mind that consumers can already buy premium red leather bands for the Moto 360 that are manufactured by DODO through the Motorola website. With that being said, Motorola could be planning additional red bands from a different manufacturer to add to the existing offerings.
