MWC 2015: A Closer Look At HTC's New Fitness Tracker, HTC Grip

This morning in Barcelona, HTC held their Utopia in Progress event. Of course, the big headliner was the unveiling of the new smartphone, the HTC One M9. However, that was not the only device on offer today. HTC was also in attendance to present their new fitness tracking wearable, which goes by the ‘HTC Grip’ handle. This is HTC’s first foray into the fitness tracking market and is brought to customers in partnership with Under Armour.

The actual fitness tracker consists of a rubberized bracelet which comes with a small screen offering visible display of your data, tracking info and notifications. The tracker works in conjunction with the Under Armour Record app on your smartphone. In terms of the specs, the Grip comes with 1.8 inch PMOLED flexible display with a 160 x 32 resolution. Inside, the grip offers 8MR RAM along with 16MB internal storage and all powered by a 100mAh battery. The battery is expected to offer over two days battery life although this is significantly reduced if GPS activation is in effect. The Grip comes with 5 sensors including GPS, Compass, G-sensor, Gyro and a Light sensor. To add to its adventurous disposition, Grip is dust, water (IP57) and shock resistant. Not forgetting, Grip offers vibrational alerts for notifications and connects via Bluetooth to your smartphone.

HTC Grip is expected to go on sale in the coming months and will be priced at $199.99
