Well here’s an interesting turn of events. Remember when Google bought Nest just a little while ago? Well it was actually about 14 months ago. Nest makes smart thermostats and smoke detectors as of right now, but it appears as if that’s going to be changing soon. A new job posting listed on their site, in the careers section, is looking for a “Head of Audio” to lead their Nest Audio team. According to the job posting, “Lead the Nest Audio team, including acoustics, audio electronics, audio SW, audio test and validation for all Nest Products”. So what could Nest be up to with Nest Audio?
While Nest is looking for someone to head up Nest Audio, it’s still very unlikely that we’ll see them release something in the Nest Audio range anytime soon. As the job listing does state that the head of Nest Audio will be in charge of creating the roadmap for Nest Audio and future products. Which could really mean everything, as we’re getting to that point of where everything is connected and talking to each other. And with apps like IFTTT, you are able to control your house from your phone no matter where you are in the world. Someone tell me that’s not cool? Heck you can even turn your lights on and off with Philips Hue app in the Play Store, and have it scheduled to turn on/off at certain times.
So Nest Audio. It will be interesting to see what Nest comes up with for Nest Audio, I’m sure Google Play Music All Access and YouTube’s Music Key will be included somehow. Seeing as Nest is owned by Google, and those are Google’s audio services – at least right now those are the only ones. It will definitely be interesting to see what Nest has in store with Nest Audio in the near future. Any bets on what Nest has in store for us in the future? Tony Fadell has stated before that they are looking at household gadgets or appliances that need to be reinvented (i.e. the thermostat and smoke detector) and reinventing them in the 21st century. Let us know what you think Nest has up their sleeves in the comments down below.
