OnePlus Confirm OxygenOS And CM 12S Lollipop For The OnePlus One Available March 27th And 30th

Since the OnePlus One launched midway through last year, there has been growing interest surrounding the device with the company building a rather substantial user base. So much so, that in spite of only being a year old, the interest in the company and their upcoming product, the OnePlus 2 is massive. Well, one of the topics in particular, which has generated substantial interest, is when the OnePlus One will receive Android 5.0 (Lollipop). Now, unlike other devices, Lollipop on the OnePlus One is a little more complicated, as there are now two avenues a OnePlus One owner can go down. These are, of course, CM 12S (the Cyanogen based OS) and the OnePlus homegrown OS, OxygenOS.

The latter of these two has long rumored, with reports coming for some time before it was announced that OnePlus was working on their own ROM. Then at the very end of last year, OnePlus released an alpha build of OxygenOS for users to install. However, this was just an alpha build and was very much a stock build with little OnePlus influence noted.

Well, if you are a OnePlus One owner and have been waiting on Lollipop (through either OS) to arrive on your device, then it looks like the wait is over. Almost over, that is. OnePlus have just officially announced the launch dates for both CM 12S and OxygenOS. According to the announcement, OxygenOS will be the first to arrive and will be available on (or before) March 27th. This will not be an OTA rollout and instead will be a download and install rollout. In terms of CM 12S, this will be available on (or before) March 30th and will come as a standard OTA to OnePlus One devices. Although, it is presumed you will need to be running stock for the OTA to be seen and installed, During the announcement, OnePlus did note that they had not intended to wait so long before making the updates available, but they unfortunately ran into a couple of technical issues.
