You know Google+? Yeah, the social network (more than that actually) some either love or hate, well, according to a new report from TechCrunch (confirmed by Google) David Besbris has resigned his role as the head of Google+. Mr. Besbris has been replaced by Bradley Horowitz, a man who has been VP of product for Google+ for a long time now. “Just wanted to confirm that the rumors are true – I’m excited to be running Google’s Photos and Streams products! It’s important to me that these changes are properly understood to be positive improvements to both our products and how they reach users,” said Horowitz. It seems kind of odd that he mentioned only Photos and Streams products here, does this mean that the rumors about Google+ splitting into different services is true?
Besbris has been a head of Google+ for less than a year, he took over from Vic Gundotra who has been around since Google+ was formed. Google+ might really be split into separate parts in the near future, this is not the only clue thus far, Google’s SVP of products, Sundar Pachai, actually hinted that in an interview for Forbes. Mr. Pachai said: “I think increasingly you’ll see us focus on communications, photos and the Google+ Stream as three important areas, rather than being thought of as one area.” Either way, Bradley Horowitz is now the head of Google+, though it’s unclear if he’s here for the long haul or not. Google+ might see some changes in the near future, if the reports regarding the separation of its services are true, of course.
