Whether you like it or not, Samsung is a titan when it comes to the mobile industry, and along with Apple they control the majority of the market when it comes to smartphones. The Galaxy S line has been a driving force in getting Android to where it is today, and each year, Samsung deliver something new that blows last year’s model away. With the Galaxy S5, this wasn’t quite the case, and 2014 saw a fall in sales for Samsung, but with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung looks more than able to prevent history repeating itself, especially if rumored pre-order numbers are to go by.
Last week, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge went on pre-order at the majority of US carriers and while Verizon pre-orders won’t begin until tomorrow, there’s been a few days for those interested to put their name down for the latest and greatest from Samsung. South Korean news outlet Naver is reporting that pre-orders for the Galaxy S6 have gone far beyond that of the Galaxy S5 from last year. Sadly, there’s no hard numbers to back this up, and we’re not sure if they’re talking about the same time period of 5 or so days, but we wouldn’t surprised if this was actually the case. Comparing the Galaxy S4 to the Galaxy S5 didn’t exactly wow people like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have. Last year, the HTC One M8 was arguably a better-looking and better made device than the Galaxy S5, but this year Samsung have stepped it up when it comes to their build quality and the Galaxy S6 looks pretty damn good.
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge might not feature a removable battery or microSD card slot, but there are improvements that will appeal to everyone. Such as the much improved camera which is more than just usable in low light situations, and unlike other devices that are shipping with the underwhelming Snapdragon 810, the Galaxy S6 goes its own way with Samsung’s own Exynos 7420, which is making some impressive scores in benchmarks.
