Samsung And Oculus Are Bringing The Gear VR Innovator Edition To Best Buy Stores This Friday

Samsung’s virtual reality headset known as the Gear VR is a testament to what can be done with virtual reality immersion technology, whether it be for apps, videos, games, or anything else. Powered by Oculus and grabbing battery power from the Galaxy Note 4 handset that sits in the front mantle of the head-worn tech, the Gear VR is light and easy to carry around and doesn’t seem to become uncomfortable after longer periods of time. The Innovator Edition of the headset which is already available to purchase straight from Samsung at their own website as well as AT&T retail and online stores and at BestBuy.com, is now coming to Best Buy at 100 physical retail stores across the country starting on March 27th with more stores to be selling the device throughout 2015.

The Gear VR Innovator Edition when available from Best Buy retail locations will cost consumers and content creators a total of $199.99, which is the same cost as it is currently through Best Buy’s website, AT&T’s website, and from Samsung themselves. While most consumers may not see the benefits of buying up something like the Oculus Rift development kit which costs considerably more, the Gear VR’s capability to bring smartphone-based virtual reality experiences to users allows consumers to obtain the unit at a much more affordable cost than anything else currently available.

As of right now, the Gear VR Innovator Edition gives consumers access to a small, but growing, list of content including apps and games that fully immerse the user in 3D worlds. Pair this with an on-ear or over-the-ear headset and the experience can really be taken to the next level. This isn’t just for the enjoyment of the consumers though, developers and creators can also get their hands on the Gear VR Innovator Edition to build and create even more virtual reality apps and games for everyone to experience, and with the launch of the headsets inside Best Buy stores beginning this Friday, Samsung, Oculus, and Best Buy are making it easier than ever for people to get a hold of it. Those interested in checking out the Innovator Edition for their themselves can go to the Best Buy website as of now and see if there is anywhere locally where they can demo and purchase the device.
