At the Samsung Unpacked event yesterday (Sunday, March 1st), Samsung emphasized that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have been designed to be the best smartphones in the industry. This means that they have the best-in-class screen, performance, camera, battery life and software experience. With this in mind, Samsung have a number of joint ventures or partnership with developers across the world. Essentially, rather than try to reinvent the wheel of an existing application or service, Samsung’s partnerships mean that the S6 models will benefit from existing applications and today, I am writing about Samsung’s partnership with Cheetah Mobile to bring the Clean Master junk-cleaning functionality to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. This partnership is designed to “enable a best-in-class mobile experience for millions of Galaxy users around the world.”
Clean Master is the number one application in Google Play’s Tools category across more than fifty countries and has been used by millions of Android users to keep their devices running in tip top condition. In a press release, Cheetah Mobile said, “Samsung’s passion for creating a simple, secure and seamless experience aligns closely with our own, and we look forward to a mutually beneficial long-term collaboration.” The partnership is believed to have been formed after a number of joint meetings across four different countries and extensive testing by both parties. Clean Master consistently helps first time users to reclaim more than 2 GB of space on their devices and on average, realizes 30% more storage than similar tools by other developers. Clean Master provides additional storage by removing junk cache files, which accumulate over time. The busier the Android device, the more junk that is accumulated and Clean Master looks through your currently installed applications to cross refer any folders it finds; it can then recommend you remove folders from applications you no longer have installed on your device.
Clean Master also includes other features that allows it to analyze the applications on your device, scanning for malware as well as junk files that may safely be deleted without losing important data. The application also includes a privacy cleaner, that allows users to clean their browser and online chat history from their device. We’ve seen the Chinese manufacturers incorporating existing applications and services into their device firmware and this has been successful: it adds an existing application that many users will already be familiar with and of course, provides the device with additional functionality. It’s interesting to see that Samsung have observed the industry and taken some of the best ideas to implement in the Galaxy S6; what do you think of it? Have you used Clean Master in the past and if so, how much space did it free up? What do you think to Samsung incorporating Clean Master technologies into the S6? And what do you think to the S6 itself? Let us know in the comments below.
