Fitness has become and ever-increasingly more important part of modern day life and our gadgets reflect that. With the advent of smartwatches and fitness bands we know more about our daily health than ever before. From tracking calories to tracking steps walked throughout the day, fitness bands, apps and smartwatches paired with the latest smartphones get the job done. But there’s more needed to reach the top of your game and that’s where fitness camps can come in. Tough Mudder is a sort of fitness camp that’s put on every year and contains a 10-12 mile course that’s full of tough obstacles, with the goal of course, to complete the whole course. What makes Tough Mudder different from other events like it out there? It’s the focus on camaraderie and teamwork over finishing in a certain time.
Tough Mudder also gets its name from the incredibly difficult obstacles that’ll keep you trying over and over again, and the only way to truly win is to elicit the help of your friends. As these sorts of events have become more and more social over the years Sony has teamed up with Tough Mudder for the 2015 challenge and will be bringing all its flagship products to the event. This includes the Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Smartwatch 3 and Sony SmartBand Talk as well as the Lifelog app that Sony has been tweaking for years. The Smartwatch 3 and SmartBand Talk will be used by participants to accurately count things like steps and distance traveled, all organized into the Lifelog app that we discussed in the SmartBand review.
Of course, we can’t forget Sony’s most recent flagship phone, the Xperia Z3, which will be utilized in a number of ways throughout the course. Tough Mudder will be placing Xperia Z3 phones throughout the course at strategically placed angles to catch the action. Since the Xperia Z3 is IP68 waterproof and dustproof, the highest rating you can get on a device like this, Tough Mudder isn’t worried about the phone getting a little wet and getting ruined while event goers get dirty. Features like TimeShift Burst and TimeShift Video will catch all the action and deliver it in new ways that event goers can see afterward and experience the event over and over again.
