Square, the payment processing company, last year purchased an online restaurant delivery service, Caviar, which seemed to come as a bit of a surprise to everyone. Following on, and towards the end of last year, Square launched an iOS app for the service which allowed you to place orders on the go and via the app. Well, it has taken an extra couple of months but today, Square have also launched the Caviar service app on Android too.
If you have never used or heard of Caviar, then it is an interesting service. It is a food delivery service although different to others, this one allows you to order from a wide selection of restaurants in your area. These do not have to be restaurants who actually deliver either as the company uses a delivery service to bring you the food. The advantage of this format is that you can also use GPS tracking to physically track your food and get real-time updates on when it will arrive. Not to mention, the actual selection of restaurants offered is quite eclectic. For instance, some are of the more high-end and fine dining level while you can also grab a sub from your local sandwich shop. So in short, something for everyone. The app shows color images of all the menu items and even allows the option to customize the dishes So if you do not like onions, then you can order ‘no onions’ just like you would in the restaurant.
If you are interested in giving the service and new android app a go then you can download the app now via the Play Store. Although, before you do, it is worth noting that this is for U.S. customers only. Not to mention, not all of the U.S. is covered. In fact, delivery is only available in Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles, Manhattan, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle and Washington, D.C. That said, if you live in any of those cities then you are in luck. If you want to know more you can read the full Caviar announcement blog by clicking the source link below.
