We all know that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are on their way to Canada – many carriers are taking pre-orders. If all goes as planned, the devices should be shipping April 10. The new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge come in Black Sapphire, White Pearl, and Gold Platinum – the Galaxy S6 adds an exclusive Blue Topaz and the Galaxy S6 Edge adds an exclusive Green Emerald. For Canada, it originally looked like the only color options would be the Black Sapphire and White Pearl, however, our source has found out that the Gold Platinum will become available shortly after the launch, so that is great news!
Samsung also hinted to them that the exclusive colors – Blue Topaz for the Galaxy S6 and Green Emerald for the Galaxy S6 Edge – might also find their way into Canada, eventually. It will probably depend on how well the devices sell in Canada, how much a demand there is for the special colors in other countries – they are, after all, pretty intense – and if enough people in Canada force Samsung’s hand.
The base 32GB Samsung Galaxy S6 will cost you about $250 on a two-year contract and $730 off-contract. The Galaxy S6 Edge will cost you $350 on contract and $830 retail. Since the new Galaxy S6 models do not have room for expansion, Samsung is also offering a 64GB Galaxy S6 model for $360/$840 and a 128GB model for $470/$960, which is priced slightly under Apple’s iPhone. The Galaxy S6 Edge will cost you $460/940 for the 32GB model and $570/$1,050 for the 128GB model.
The new Galaxy S6 models sport a 5.1-inch Quad HD display with 577 pixels-per-inch (PPI). Samsung has done away with their Qualcomm Snapdragon affiliations this year in lieu of their in-house Exynos 7420 octa-core 64-bit processor with 3GB of DDR4 RAM and their own Flash memory – this new RAM and Flash memory is much faster than the last generation and makes the new Samsung Galaxy S6 models fly through their tasks.
