Earlier this morning some leaked price listings for the upcoming Android Wear smartwatch from Huawei, named the Huawei Watch, showed up on the web from German retailer Billiger. The prices showed off what to date could be the most expensive Android Wear smartwatch out of the currently available options, as Billiger was listing the unit starting at a price of €349. That roughly translates to $375 USD, although the conversions are not necessarily evident of what the actual US prices will be for the Huawei Watch. As of now UK retailer Mobile Fun has apparently reached out to Techno Buffalo and confirmed their own prices for the watch which basically suggests the European prices from earlier are possibly accurate.
Mobile Fun are stating that their prices for the Huawei Watch will start at £300 for either a silver model or a black model. Huawei is also selling a gold model of the Huawei Watch which Mobile Fun is listing at a price of £350. Through the conversion from pounds to dollars, that puts the price at around $447.74 for the silver or black model, and $522.36 for the gold model of the watch. Keep in mind that these prices are just estimations based on the currency conversion rate, which doesn’t confirm what the actual prices will be here in the U.S.
If Huawei is planning to launch the Huawei Watch at near those prices in the U.S. though, they will still be quite expensive when you compare them to all other available offerings. If Huawei wants to be competitive, they’ll definitely have to be willing to play things safe and offer U.S. consumers at least one model that is close to the price range of other comparable devices like the Moto 360 or the LG G Watch R. Now that the prices seem to be official for the UK, we could be getting close to an actual launch of the device. Even if the Huawei Watch turns out to be just a little more than the competition, it looks quite astonishingly close to what a real watch looks like, perhaps more than anything else at this point. If you haven’t yet invested in a smartwatch, the Huawei Watch might be one to keep an eye on.
