There are many ways to customize your Android smartphone and tablet but one of the easiest and more encompassing is to replace the default application launcher with a third party alternative. This is a quick and simple way to adjust how the device looks and feels when launching applications, but the more comprehensive launchers can change how you interact with your device by providing you with different and more functional widgets, changes to how the notification tray works (or even hiding it), new iconsets and lockscreens too. There are a great many different third party application launchers available on the market but Action Launcher is one of the more comprehensive, popular and regularily updated. Today, the news is that Action Launcher has been updated to version 3.4, which you can get via the Google Play Store. Action Launcher is available in two versions, the standard and free launcher, and the premium $4.99 version, called Action Launcher Plus.
There are over twelve new features and refinements in the new version, including an improved widget picker, a fully customizable All Applications grid and icon scale setting, plus the ability to edit icons and labels in both the All Apps and Quickdrawer screens. There’s a choice of five variants of the Roboto font, plus improvements when importing settings from other launchers. The developer has included a new vertical scrolling mode for all applications and widgets, and the option to hide the status bar. The developer has listened and read to customer feedback and incorporated a number of changes into the launcher, such as the ability to remember where the launcher was when launching an application and return to the same screen (or conversely, to never return to the same screen but instead always return to the home screen).
Now, as is common for applications with both a free and a premium version, customers should upgrade to the premium version in order to obtain all of the features but one of the great things about Action Launcher is that over seventy percent of customizable features are available to non-Plus users. This is an important point: providing users with as full an experience as possible is a great way to encourage people to part with the upgrade cash! If you already use Action Launcher, your device may well notify you of the update, or go ahead and visit the Google Play Store for the newer version. If you don’t use Action Launcher, perhaps these new features will encourage you to give it a try; check out the YouTube clip below!
