Android 5.X (Lollipop) has simply been one of the biggest talking points of the last few months. In fact, almost every day since the update was officially released, news has been coming in on Lollipop. Most of the news revolves around which manufacturer or carrier is currently in the process of rolling out the update to their respective devices and variants. The news continued, when a short while ago it became clear that a new update, in the form on Android 5.1 was being released. Compared to the last update, this was seen as much of a bug fix update, fixing many of the annoyances noted with Android 5.0.
Well even more recently, news had been circulating about the next incremental update which is set to be released. This one is Adored 5.1.1. The latest incremental update was first spotted a couple of weeks back when it was noted listed on the Android SDK Manager. This was followed only a few days ago when the same Android 5.1.1. reference was noted on the Android Audio Latency support page. On this particular occasion, the referencing was directly linked to the Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 9. This led to some speculation that maybe these were the first two devices likely to see the update landing.
Well, if you hop on over to the Android Developers factory image page (source link below) you might be surprised to learn that the Android 5.1.1 factory image is now posted and available. That said, what is even more surprising is that it seems it is not the Nexus 7 (2013) or the Nexus 9 which is seeing the update first. In fact, it is also not the latest Nexus smartphone, the Nexus 6. Instead, it would seem that the Nexus Player is the first to see the update arrive. The update comes with the build number LMY47V and is available to download now for the Nexus Player. As such, you should expect an OTA to roll out soon enough. Not to mention, the other Nexus devices should not be too far behind. If you cannot wait though and do own a Nexus Player, then hit the link below to grab your download.
