Android Phone Battle: Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge vs HTC One M9

Today both Samsung and HTC launched their brand new flagship devices today, with Samsung launching two phones and the successors in the Galaxy S line, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, while HTC launched their all new HTC One M9 handset. All three devices launched inside of carrier stores as well as other retailers and online through a number of different regions globally and all come running the latest version of Android, Android 5.0 Lollipop, and we want to know which device caught your fancy the most. Which one did you buy or will you be buying of the three? The Samsung Galaxy S6, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, or the HTC One M9?

Samsung Galaxy S6

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 features a 5.1-inch SuperAMOLED display, the brightest and most crisp they’ve ever put on a handset especially when you consider the Quad-HD resolution. In addition to the improved screen over previous Galaxy S models, Samsung is also offering the device in three different storage size models, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB, although this time with no expandable storage via a microSD card slot. They also took the battery down a little bit from the Galaxy S5, choosing to use a 2,550mAh battery and make it non-removable for the first time ever on a Galaxy S device simply because they have finally felt confident enough they got their battery tech and software where it needs to be to allow this feature. The Galaxy S6 also comes equipped with Samsung’s own Exynos 7420 octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM, a 16MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera, both with wider f1.9 apertures for better low-light pictures. The cameras also snap shots in under 0.7 seconds from the time you open the camera to the time the picture is taken and saved. Samsung is offering the phone in black sapphire, white pearl, gold platinum, and blue topaz.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Samsung stuck with basically the same exact hardware here, minus a few small differences, like the battery which comes in at 2,600mAh instead of the 2,550mAh like on the Galaxy S6, and of course the it comes in a special green emerald colors instead of the blue topaz, while also offering it in black sapphire, white pearl, and gold platinum. It also has the edged display on both the right and left sides of the screen which can be used for notifications and such, as well as light up when the device is face down and people call you if you set their contact to a specific color. Other than that the hardware is no different, so you get the same processor, same RAM, same front and back cameras, same screen size and resolution quality, and the same metal and glass housing that uses Gorilla Glass 4 for the front and back panels. The Galaxy S6 Edge can also be picked up in all the same storage size models, so you can choose 32GB, 64GB, or 128GB.

HTC One M9

HTC’s all new One M9 device has some decent improvements with the hardware over the HTC One M8 from 2014, most notably the cameras, which are now a 20MP rear-facing camera and the 4MP UltraPixel camera on the front, and the latest CPU from Qualcomm, the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 octa-core CPU. They also smoothed out and slightly tweaked the sides of the device so it would be easier to hold. The HTC One M9 comes in only a 32GB storage size model however it does have a microSD card slot for expandable storage, and it’s powered by a 2,840mAh non-removable battery. It also comes in two colors, which are Gunmetal Gray, and Silver with Gold. Just like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, it will be available across most major carriers starting from this morning, as well as other retailers and some online stores like Amazon, Best Buy, etc.

So, there’s today’s battle of the three newest devices to officially go on sale. Which one are you picking up?
