The Chinese smartphone market is huge, the biggest smartphone market in the world in fact. This Asian country is also home to many, many smartphone manufacturers. Everyone has heard of Xiaomi, Huawei and ZTE for example, but Elephone is probably a mystery to most of you. This company is actually based in Hong Kong and has been releasing devices for quite some time now. Their build quality is really solid and they’ve been using metal as their material of choice many times before. Well, Elephone will soon launch the P7000 handset which we’ve talked about recently. This handset sports really compelling specs, great build quality and a fingerprint scanner, but it will cost only $199 once it launches. This isn’t the only interesting device Elephone is planning to launch soon though, read on.
We’ve talked about Elephone’s upcoming flagships quite recently. The initial reports were claiming they were going to sport 4GB of RAM and then some promo material leaked out saying we’re looking at 3GB of RAM, not 4GB. Well, the company has now confirmed that both versions of their new flagship devices will ship with 4GB of RAM. Elephone’s new flagship will ship in two variants, ‘Version A’ will sport a 5.5 QuadHD (2560 x 1440) display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This device will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6795 SoC and will ship with 3,800+mAh battery (this essentially means it will be at least 3,800mAh in capacity). The 20.7-megapixel camera (Sony’s sensor) will be located on the back of this device and Android 5.0 Lollipop will come pre-installed here. It seems like this handset will also offer support for CyanogenMod ROM, at least according to promo materials.
The ‘Version B’ of Elephone’s upcoming flagship is even more interesting. This handset will reportedly offer dual boot option between Android 5.0 Lollipop and Windows 10. The company still hasn’t confirmed this, but promo materials kind of confirm it. This handset will look the same as the aforementioned ‘Version A’ device, but it will be powered by Intel’s SoC, not MediaTek’s. We’re presuming that the SoC in question is one of Intel’s 64-bit Atom processors. The ‘Version A’ handset will allegedly arrive in May, and the ‘Version B’ is said to follow in June.
