Drizly is one of the very few applications you can find on your device that will let you order beer from home using the app, and have it delivered to your front door much like you would with food. For legal drinking ages of course. The app boasts a 20-40 minute delivery time, and the selection of stuff to order is decent. The only downside is that it has limited location availability.
Saucey
Saucey is a lot like Drizly, and offers you beer and for that matter, liquor and wine too. All delivered to your door after you’ve order through the app. It also boasts a 20-40 minute delivery time. Although, also like Drizly, the app has limited availability and only delivers in a handful of cities, unfortunately.
Beer Advocate
Beer Advocate is a mix between a social community for beer enthusiasts and a library of beer types. You can use it to search for beers from different breweries or search the type of beer you’re looking for. It also lets you rate beer and you can also set up to receive alerts on new beer news and events happening around you.
Foursquare
OK, so Foursquare isn’t really a beer app, but you can use Foursquare to check in at many local pubs, bars, and taphouses around your local area and many other cities you visit. It’s great for letting your friends know where you like to frequent and also review the places you love the most. You can use it to spread the word about an undiscovered gem of a pub, and some places even have rewards for checking in, like free beer!
Yelp
Yelp isn’t a dedicated beer app either, but if you’re interested in finding out about the best bars and pubs to hit with some great craft beers and local brews, Yelp should be an app in your library to assist you in finding out what others think of spots around your area or in a town you’re visiting. In most cases, Yelp reviews will not only list the comments of other patrons, but also the contact info about the establishment, and sometimes menus.
Maps
Like Yelp, Maps is more dedicated to helping you find places to go and pick up beer or drink beer on the spot, and once you find a place that seems like it’s worth checking out whether it has good reviews or an interesting lineup of beers, you can get directions and navigation right from within the app, and even check it out in street view!
Yes, Instagram is more about taking pictures and being social so you can share those images with others, but as it happens beer is a great social starter, and what better way to share your love of beer than to take a picture of it and throw it up on Instagram?
RateBeer
As you may have already deduced, RateBeer is all about beer ratings, but it serves other purposes than just finding out which beers have the best ratings. It can help you find and discover new beers you’ve never had and it might even help you decide whether or not you want to try a specific new beer based on the rating. If you have a more worldly palette, you can view top 50 beers by country. Not to mention, you can search for beers to get details like ABV, IBU and more.
Beer Citizen
Beer Citizen is one of the best beer apps available on mobile and is one tool that any beer lover should have in their toolkit. It helps you be social about the beers you love and can help you discover new beers to try. You can search for beers with an extensive collection of beer types including information and details, rate and review beers you’ve tried yourself and share those reviews with others. You can also check-in when you’re having and reviewing a beer so others can see what you’ve had. Who knows you might even convince someone to try something new.
Untappd
Another great app for beer lovers and an absolutely must-have on your device. Untappd is a social beer application that lets you do a multitude of different things like check-in at your favorite places to drink beer, rate and review beers you’ve had (with included images), share those beer check-ins with others and see what others have had and what they thought. It’s great for new beer discovery and since it’s powered by Foursquare, you can earn badges for trying new beers or having so many beers in a certain spot in a given amount of time. Many local taphouses, pubs and breweries even support Untappd check-ins and sometimes offer rewards, like, you guessed it.. free beer. What could be better?
