If you own an android device then chances are that you use Chrome as your browser. At the very least and regardless of whether you use it, your device will have it installed as it comes by default on android devices along with the abundance of other Google app offerings. However, if you are more interested in the latest and most up-to-date version of Chrome then you probably do not use the Chrome browser and instead opt for the Beta version, known as Chrome Beta. This is, after all, the version of Chrome which sees updates pushed far quicker than the normal (or ‘stable’ as it is known) version.
Well, for those who like to be on beta to take advantage of those quicker updates, it looks like Google is making your Chrome experience even quicker. This is because the company seems to have now made available a developer (dev) version of Chrome for Android. Similar to how the process works on Chrome OS, while beta sees updates before the stable channel, the developer channel sees the updates before either the stable or beta channel does. Likewise, ‘Chrome Dev’ will also offer much quicker access to the latest and newest features Chrome has to offer. In fact, as Google puts it on the Play Store listing “Live on the bleeding edge: Try out our latest features“.
Of course, the downside of “living on the bleeding edge” is that there is the increased likelihood of more issues, force closes and the likes occurring. Google does note this in the Play Store listing by stating those features will “be rough around the edges“. Either way though, if you do want to live on the edge and see what Chrome has to offer before all other versions of Chrome receive their updates, then you can download the app now from the Play Store by clicking here.
