HTC One M8 was the company’s flagship handset for 2014. This Taiwan-based company didn’t exactly do too well as far as profits go last year, but the One M8 was well-received, and it also managed to sell really well on its own. The company has announced its successor (One M9) last month during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. That’s not all though, the company will announce the One M9+ handset on April 8th in Beijing, the One E9+ has been listed on HTC’s official website in China, and the company is also expected to announce the One E9 soon. Very few people expected HTC to prepare so many devices in such a short period of time, and even fewer that the company will add yet another to that list.
The HTC One M8s details leaked about a month ago and we haven’t heard much about it since. The leak said that this will be a somewhat toned-down version of the company’s flagship from last year, a mid-ranger. Well, HTC has just unveiled that handset, let’s take a look at its specs. The One M8s features a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor which comes with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. 13-megapixel Duo Camera is located on the back of the device (f/2.0 aperture, 28mm lens) and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front (f/2.8 aperture, 33.7mm lens). HTC’s BoomSound speakers are present here, and the device will ship with a 2,840mAh battery on the inside. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with HTC’s Sense UI on top of it. This handset offer 4G LTE connectivity (FDD-LTE, bands 3,5,7,8,20), while NFC and Bluetooth 4.1 are also a part of the package. The One M8s measures 146.41 x 70.61 x 9.55mm and weighs 160 grams.
As far as the design goes, this handset looks almost identical to its older brother. Metal unibody design, BoomSound speaker holes on the front, and the power button on the top are all present here, this is basically a One M8 sporting a somewhat different set of specs. The One M8s will be available in Silver, Gold and Gunmetal Grey color options. The device will sell for £379.99 ($564) in the UK, that’s all we know thus far, we’ll let you know when we get more info regarding its availability.
