2015 may only be a few months old, but it has already been a crazy year in the life of Google’s face wearing device, Google Glass. After quite a long time in its former version and back in January of this year, Google Glass was the subject of mass speculation suggesting the device (and project as a whole) was being abandoned. This seemed to be quite the understatement as Google Glass was only going through a transitional period. This change came with the news of the assigning of Nest’s chief, Tony Fadell as head of the next stage of Glass.
Since then, even more speculation has been developing as to what the future holds for Glass in its next chapter. In fact, last week a new patent was noted which seemed to give some hints as what can be expected from a future version of Glass. Some of those hints included the possibility of eye tracking as well as the possibility of two heads up displays. Well, a week on and it looks like another patent by Google has now been spotted. In fact, the latest one shows a much clearer drawing of what the future edition of Glass could look like.
As can be seen in the image above and if the image is anything like the new version, then there will be some fundamental changes. Firstly, it seems the Glass prism has been moved from the right-hand side to the left-hand side. In addition, the camera has been separated from the main attachment and now resides alone, on the right-hand side of the device. The separate location of the two elements can just as easily be seen in the image below. The patent number is listed as D727,317 and the full details can be checked out by clicking on the source link below. Of course, at present these are just possibilities and nothing (including the images) do not confirm what the next generation of Glass may look like. However, they do at least provide a glimpse of what it possibly might look like and at the very least, the most recent possibility as the patent is only dated as published yesterday.
