We’ve seen quite a few great devices launched this year, including the first smartphone to sport 4GB of RAM, Asus ZenFone 2. This Taiwan-based smartphone OEM managed to surprise many people when they launched their new ZenFone 2 line during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas back in January, mainly because the most powerful device in that lineup sported 4GB of RAM. That’s not the only reason though, that handset also looks really sleek and it’s priced is way lower than people assumed it would be. Asus is not the only smartphone vendor who released a smartphone featuring 4GB of RAM, Xiaomi did the same thing back in January as well when they announced the Mi Note Pro handset. Unlike the ZenFone 2 though, the Mi Note Pro is still not available for purchase, will be soon though.
That being said, Lenovo has decided to launch a smartphone which is sporting 4GB of RAM as well, the Lenovo K80. This handset features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Intel’s 64-bit Atom SoC clocked at 1.8GHz is powering on this handset and you also get a 4,000mAh battery with this device. The 13-megapixel OIS camera is located on the back of this device and underneath it you’ll find an LED flash. The K80 is 8.5mm thick and it will be available in a range of color options: Black, Red and Silver. The company will also sell a different version of this device which will be sporting 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
The 4GB model will be available in China starting April 30 and will cost 1,799 Yuan ($290), while the 2GB model will set you back 1,499 Yuan ($240). That’s all we know thus far, it remains to be seen if Lenovo plans to launch this thing outside of China or not. As you can see, this handset is somewhat similar to Asus’ ZenFone 2 offering, not only is it affordable but it also sports 4GB of RAM, comes in more than one variant and is powered by Intel’s SoC.
