LG’s Watch Urbane has to be one of the most anticipated smartwatch launches of the year, along with the Huawei Watch and of course, the dreaded Apple Watch. While the Apple Watch is a square, somewhat iPhone-looking device, the Watch Urbane looks more like a generic wrist watch than anything else released. Based on the G Watch R’s design without the numbers around the bezel, the Watch Urbane is a much more traditional affair, and would be more suited to those who wear a suit to work and older wearers. As it’s so similar to the G Watch R, it’s understandable people have been wondering about the price of this new Android Wear watch.
According to a report from ETNews, the Watch Urbane has a “factory price” – which we’re assuming to be an RRP – of $365. That’s a little more expensive than the G Watch R, which has an RRP of $330, of course it’s available online for quite a bit less than that these days. Either way, it’s nice to hear that the price won’t be too dissimilar to current watches on the market right now, especially when the Huawei watch is said to be a costly affair. According to the report, the Watch Urbane is set to go on sale across the globe starting April 28th.
The Watch Urbane is an Android Wear watch that many have been looking forward to, mostly due to its classic styling, but now there’s new software to consider as well. Earlier this week, Google announced a big Android Wear update was coming soon, which will – finally! – bring with it a much easier way to launch apps and call contacts without using your voice and the ability to draw emoji to send to people. This update will of course make its way to all Android Wear watches, but the Watch Urbane is to be the first to enjoy thew new features, so if you’re looking for an upgrade on that G Watch or Gear Live, then the Watch Urbane could be a safe bet.
