Sony has made it pretty clear that the mobile division is going nowhere, which has been stated on more than one occasion from someone within Sony Mobile after rumors started to spread that Sony may have been looking at options to sell off the mobile division due to dwindling sales. What is unclear at this point is what Sony plans to do in terms of new products. There have been numerous rumors about the next flagship device, said to be the Sony Xperia Z4 and those rumors have been accompanied by leaks of renders, images, and unofficial talk of specifications.
Nothing is confirmed at this point, but a new Sony flagship is speculated to be launching sometime before the end of the summer. At this point nothing is known about what the design of the next Xperia flagship (possibly the Xperia Z4) will look like, but leaks of the alleged cases for the upcoming device have attempted to shed a little light on the situation. Since none of these cases have been confirmed as officially being for the Sony Xperia Z4 however, they should still be considered just rumors. As of today, a new set of leaked images has popped up that may be of cases meant for the Sony Xperia Z4 device, however, an email from a Sony Mobile device forum listed as “Sony.yt – International Sony Forum” seems to further suggest that there is a new flagship device coming from Sony called the Xperia Z3 Neo, a rumor we first heard earlier today.
Whether or not there is truth to this statement is unknown, but it leaves consumers with an entirely new question. If the leaked images of device cases belong to the Sony Xperia Z4 or the Sony Xperia Z3 Neo. Sony has had Neo devices in the past under the Sony Ericsson brand, so a new “Neo” device wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for them. According to rumors, the Sony Xperia Z3 Neo may end up with a launch date of sometime between next month and June, which ends up being either just before the Summer or right at the beginning. This could fall in line with another rumor that states Sony could be looking to launch another flagship device by the end of this year, which could put it right at the six-month mark for a release cycle.
