With every new device that hits the market, questions are raised as to how durable they are. Can they withstand certain conditions or the frailties of modern life. These questions (and their answers) are typically heightened when it come to flagship devices. One reason for this is that the more premium devices typically come with more premium materials and build and sometimes, premium materials are thought to be interchangeable with brittle or vulnerable. On the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, a prime example of this interchangeable thinking is the fact that two flagship Samsung devices come with a glass back, as well as a glass front. Glass being premium and also thought of as being brittle or delicate. The other reason of course, is the price. Nobody want to pay the price of a premium flagship device like the Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge if they are buying a device which is unlikely to make it through the trials and tribulations of daily life.
Enter the wealth of torture videos. Although these come with the rather unfortunate name of torture videos, they are also informative and provide some information on how durable a device might be. In terms of the twin Galaxy S6 devices, we have already seen a video emerged of the S6 Edge put through a bend test. Not to mention, we also saw a reply from Samsung in the form of another video detailing how they test their devices for bending and asking for a retesting of the original video detailing the strength of the back of the device.
Likewise, a week or so back, there was also a video which emerged showing the S6 being out through a rather unfortunate drop test. This was more of a ‘slam into ground test’ then drop test and in fairness, the device held up pretty good.
