Most of you have probably heard of Yotaphone / Yotaphone 2, a smartphone which features a display on both its front and back side. Both version of Yota’s Yotaphone sport a regular panel on the front, and an Electronic Paper (E-Paper) display on its back. Why might someone want two displays on a smartphone? Well, the Electronic Paper display sips way lay battery than the regular display, not to mention its more convenient for reading, checking out notifications and what not. We’re not here to talk about the Yotaphone though, but its newest competitor, the Siswoo R9 Darkmoon.
Much like the Yotaphone, the Siswoo R9 Darkmoon sports two displays, the regular LED display on the front, and an E Ink display on its back. The display on the front is 5.5-inches in size and sports a 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution. The e-ink display on the back is 5-inches big and sports a resolution fo 960 x 540. Gorilla Glass 3 is protecting both of these screens by the way. The Siswoo R9 Darkmoon is powered by MediaTek’s MT6752 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, a chip that a lot of Chinese OEMs are using lately. This handset also sports 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and it will ship with a 3,000mAh battery on the inside. As far as camera sensors go, you’ll find a 13-megapixel shooter (+LED flash) on its back and an 8-megapixel snapper on its front side. This handset also offers dual-SIM support and 4G LTE connectivity, while NFC and Qi wireless charging are also available here.
As far as the design of this handset goes, it sports a metal frame with chamfered edges and its speakers are located on the bottom of the device. There are three capacitive buttons located below the display, the menu, home and back button, respectively. Siswoo still didn’t reveal when they plan to release this device nor how much will it cost, but we’ll keep you informed as far as that goes.
