CallMask is an Android app with a focus on providing users with temporary numbers, for use when anonymity is a crucial component as part of communication. Whether you might be selling some of your old stuff online, dating, talking to people on social media or simply don’t want to give your real number out to people you just met, CallMask can allow you a temporary means of communicating with anyone you feel the need to mask your real number from. If privacy is important to you then CallMask just might be what you need.
If you find CallMask to be an app that is the perfect solution, before you can begin to use it you’ll want to jump over to the Play Store and and download CallMask onto your device.
When you first open up the app, you’ll be asked to enter your phone number, and after entering you’ll be sent a message to that number to confirm that it’s you trying to set up the application. Following this step you’ll be given a temporary number which you can then use to privately and anonymously communicate with anyone who you aren’t ready or willing to give your real number to.
The temporary number you’re given is for a trial period that is good for 7 days from the time that you set it up. It also gives you a certain amount of minutes and text messages with which to use for those masked calls or texts, so you don’t have complete unlimited access during the trial period and will want to be aware of that.
It’s worth noting that your masks only last for the designated amount of time associated with it, (i.e. the trial period of 7 days) or until you use up the associated amount of minutes or messages, which ever comes first. Should you run out of either time, voice minutes, or messages for you can extend your mask by extending it with multiple options. Masks cost credits, with the small and medium masks costing 3 and 5, while the large and long masks both cost 8 credits. Mask extensions can be paid for credit card information or even bitcoin if you prefer.
If you have no credits to buy masks, you can buy credits as an in-app purchase for varied amounts, starting with 3 credits for $2, 8 credits for $5, 15 credits for $8, 25 credits for $12, and finally 50 credits for $20.
With CallMask you can make outgoing calls and texts and receive incoming calls and texts, reveal the real caller-id of blocked or private numbers, and it even supports voicemail and picture messaging as well as incoming faxes.
After using CallMask for a couple of days I found that it works exactly as advertised. The trial period is long enough to get people acquainted with the system and how to use things, and should I have decided I wanted to extend my mask and keep the temporary number doing so was made easy enough with a range of different options based on my needs. Personally, I have no use for a temporary number but if you do(like when selling stuff online for example and you don’t want interested buyers having your real contact information)then CallMask should serve its purpose just fine. I found the UI to be pleasing as well, as it follow the new design guidelines that Google set forth with Material Design.
