T-Mobile LG G3 Set To Receive Android Lollipop Update On April 7th

Now that April Fool’s day has come and gone, the news is returning to a ‘back to business’ stance. In particular, a back to Android 5.0 Lollipop business nature. News has already been coming in thick and fast in respect of Lollipop updates. The first came this morning when it was announced that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, in certain regions has began receiving its update. Likewise, news quickly followed that the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport is also set to begin its Lollipop update today. Stepping away from Samsung, news has also emerged today that owners of the LG G3 on T-mobile are able to self-update their device using the LG Mobile Support Tool.

At the time however, there were no firm details provided on when the actual OTA would begin rolling out to the T-Mobile G3. As such, those who wanted to be running Lollipop would have to use this method to push the update to their device. It has been previously reported just over a week ago that T-Mobile had updated the status of the LG G3 and LG G2 as being in “Carrier Testing“. However, that was the extent to the information available. Well, now it looks like there is an update for those LG G3 owners who have opted to wait for the OTA to reach them. The information does not come from T-Mobile in the way of an official announcement, although it does come from T-Mobile’s now famous tweeter Des Smith, aka @askdes.

According to a tweet sent out by Des this morning, the Lollipop update will be heading out to the T-Mobile LG G3’s on April 7th. As the message came via a tweet, details on what to expect are obviously limited. Not to mention, there is no absolute confirmation that it is the same update as the 5.0.1 version, which is currently available for the self-update tool. However, it is more likely than not to be the same update. Therefore, if you are running a T-Mobile LG G3 you can either hang on until next Tuesday for the OTA to begin being sent out to devices or self-update now.
